Parental Controls & Block Settings 

The Parental Control feature allows you to block programs by channel, program rating, or time of day. You set up the blocking feature and turn it on and off for the entire system by entering your Personal Identification Number (PIN). When you turn the Parental Control feature on, you cannot view blocked programs without entering your PIN. 

Changing Your Personal Identification Number (PIN)

  1. Press the SETTINGS button twice to display the General Settings menu.
  2. Press the MOVE UP/MOVE DOWN arrow buttons to highlight Block: PIN then press SELECT.
  3. Highlight Change in the Action column and press SELECT.
  4. Enter the CURRENT PIN (preset PIN is 0000).
  5. Enter the NEW PIN.
  6. Re-enter the NEW PIN to confirm change.
  7. Press EXIT to return to watching TV.

Blocking Channels, Program Ratings, and Time of Day

Blocks do not take effect unless Parental Control is turned on.

  1. Press the SETTINGS button twice to display the General Settings menu.
  2. Press the UP or DOWN arrow buttons to highlight one of the following options.

Block: Channels

  1. Press SELECT. A PIN entry screen appears.
  2. Press the number keys to enter your 4-digit PIN. A Channel menu appears.
  3. Press the UP or DOWN arrow buttons to highlight the channel you wish to block and then press SELECT. A padlock symbol appears next to the channel you selected.
  4. Repeat highlighting and selecting the channels you wish to block.
  5. When all channels that you want to block have a padlock shown, press the YELLOW TRIANGLE button to accept the changes.

Block: Rating

  1. Press SELECT. A PIN entry screen appears.GS_Block_Rating.jpg
  2. Enter your 4-digit PIN. A Rating menu appears.
  3. Press the UP or DOWN arrow buttons to highlight the rating you want to block.
  4. Press SELECT, the rating is now blocked. A padlock symbol appears next to the rating you selected.
  5. Repeat highlighting and selecting ratings you wish to block.
  6. When all ratings that you want to block have a padlock shown, press the YELLOW TRIANGLE button to accept the changes.

Block: Time New

  1. Press SELECT. A PIN entry screen appears.GS_Block_Time.jpg
  2. Enter your 4-digit PIN. A Day/Time menu appears.
  3. Press the UP or DOWN arrow buttons to highlight the date or day of the week you want the block, then press SELECT.
  4. In the Start column, change time shown to the time you want the block to start. Use the UP or DOWN arrow buttons to change the times.
  5. When the correct START time is shown, press SELECT. The time you want to start blocking programs appears in the START column and the cursor moves to the STOP column.
  6. In the STOP column, change time shown to the time you want the block to stop. Use the UP or DOWN arrow buttons to change the times.
  7. When the correct STOP time is shown, press the YELLOW TRIANGLE button to accept the start and stop times you have entered.

Notes:

  • To clear a blocked channel or rating, highlight the channel or rating and press SELECT again to unblock the channel or rating. To clear all blocked channels or ratings, highlight the 'Block: Channels' or 'Block: Rating' setting and press the RED CIRCLE button.
  • To clear a blocked time, highlight the Block: Time# (the # symbol represents the number of the time period you want clear), then press the RED CIRCLE button.

Blocking and Unblocking Directly from the Channel

  1. Quick_Settings.jpgPress the SETTINGS button once to display the Quick Settings menu.
  2. Press the UP or DOWN arrow buttons to highlight 'Block this Channel' or 'Unblock this Channel' and press SELECT.
  3. Enter your PIN. A padlock symbol in the Guide indicates that a channel or program is blocked by time or rating.

Notes:

  • You can turn off all Parental Controls, or selectively unblock a single channel, program or time period.
  • When the Parental Control feature is off, an open or unlocked padlock symbol in the Guide identifies each channel or program that would be blocked if the Parental Control feature were on.

Turning On or Off Parental Control

When Parental Control is on, the blocks set up are enabled. The blocked channels, ratings, and times cannot be viewed. Blocks do not take effect unless Parental Control is turned on. When you turn off Parental Control using "Quick Settings," all channels, ratings, and times are unblocked.

  1. Parental_Control_QS.jpgPress the SETTINGS button once to display the Quick Settings menu.
  2. Press the UP or DOWN arrow buttons to highlight the TURN OFF/ON Parental Control.
  3. Press SELECT to change the Parental Control setting to ON or OFF.
  4. The PIN entry screen appears. Enter your 4-digit PIN.

Notes:

  • When Parental Control is ON, only those who know your PIN can view block programming.
  • When Parental Control is OFF, programs that have been selected for blocking can be viewed by anyone.

Watching a Blocked Program

  1. Parental_Control_On.jpgTune to the blocked channel. The 'Parental Control: On' menu will appear.
  2. Press SELECT to turn off Parental Control.
  3. Enter your 4-digit PIN number to unblock the channel.

Note: If you unblock one or more channels without turning off Parental Control, then you will need to repeat these steps to unblock other channels.
